1. What is RouteMaintenance?
1. What is RouteMaintenance?
RouteMaintenance is the term used for the new method of carrying out periodic inspections or audits on fixed plant facilities. RouteMaintenance is a path in which to follow to complete the specific task required. RouteMaintenance is a software suite of tools which enables to user to follow the defined tasks in their set order. Access to more information than paper can offer is available within the software. Access to the tools and parts defined for the task is easy.
Defects can be recorded and previous defects registered can be easily viewed. Many features are available to make it easier for the user to complete the route being assigned.
2. Who carries out RouteMaintenance inspections or services?
2. Who carries out RouteMaintenance inspections or services?
The routes can be defined by different roles, intervals and actual route names. The user that is assigned to the route has a log on to the software. With this access this user can see what routes have been assigned for the given period and which ones he/she has access to.
The role maybe one of the following
- Mechanical Engineer
- Lubrication Specialist
- Electrician
- Safety Officer
- Inspector
- Technician
- Plumber
- Supervisor
- the list is endless
As part of the development process we work closely with the client to define which roles are being used to carry out specific routes.
4. Are defects repaired during RouteMaintenance?
4. Are defects repaired during RouteMaintenance?
Preferably not, the RouteMaintenance Team is focused on turn-around time as safely as possible. Carrying out defect repairs can slow this process down and could affect the efficiency of the process. If Defects are to be carried out during the inspection/service time, this needs to be done by a separate team. They need to be well organised and must be able to achieve the completion of the repair in the time taken to complete the RouteMaintenance inspection.
5. How long does it take to do a RouteMaintenance inspection/service?
5. How long does it take to do a RouteMaintenance inspection/service?
This varies with each route and interval being carried out. Typically a 30% reduction in inspection time is recognised when following this process. Other efficiencies, such as parts kits, tooling availability, minor engineering changes and improved planning can increase this further.

7. What are the steps to get started with RouteMaintenance?
7. What are the steps to get started with RouteMaintenance?
We follow a 4 step process;
- Site Review – where Senior Management approves an onsite review before we start. This is to look over the site conditions and routes in mind
- Development – ZMI develops the new RouteMaintenance Inspection Sheets and implementation strategy, off site.
- Implementation – Client and ZMI work together through the training and awareness, change management and implementation phase of RouteMaintenance.
- Follow Up Review – regular follow ups and audits of the compliance to the process is conducted every 3 months for an agreed period. During this period clear goals are set and strategy to achieve is agreed to by both parties.
